A dental bridge is an appliance that has a replacement tooth (or multiple replacement teeth) in the middle with a dental crown on each side. This is a strong, reliable, and effective appliance that can fill the gap in your smile and replace your missing teeth.

A dental bridge can offer many benefits. In fact, it can repair your smile, replace your missing teeth, give you the ability to properly talk, bite, and chew, and preserve your facial features. Dental bridges can also give you the strength you need in your bite and prevent the remaining natural teeth from wandering out of place, which can help prevent orthodontic issues.

Fortunately, the process of installing a dental bridge is simple and easy. However, the installation might require two visits to our office, depending on the equipment we have available. During your first appointment, Dr. Nandhini Bogavelli will formulate the neighboring two teeth by trimming the outer layers, which are called the enamel layers. This will make enough room to place the dental bridge over the teeth. Dr. Nandhini Bogavelli will then make impressions of the abutments (the shaved teeth) and the corresponding teeth in your bite and will send those impressions to a professional dental lab. While you wait for your bridge to be made, your dentist will help you have a functional mouth by placing temporary crowns over the abutments.

Your second visit will involve your dentist removing the temporary crowns and assessing the fit, function, and appearance of your new bridge. If necessary, your dentist will make adjustments to the bridge to make it fit perfectly in the mouth. Once the bridge is exactly how you like it, Dr. Nandhini Bogavelli will cement the bridge into your smile.
